Tombigbee RC&D Council attended Freedom Farms ribbon cutting for their new home for children in foster care. We were able to provide them with a community development grant of 40,000$ for new landscaping! In attendance was Representative Bill Lamb, Tombigbee Chairman of the Board Don Sherrod, our Executive Director Nneka Williams, Senator Gerald Allen, and Amber Capell Director of Administration and Advancement for Freedom Farm.
Tombigbee RC&D Council Annual Board Meeting- 2024
Tombigbee RC&D Council hosted our annual board meeting this year. We would like to thank everybody that was able to speak at the event, grantees who attended and Senator/Legislators/Representatives that attended. It was a great success and insightful as to the income the funds Tombigbee and Legislators provide.
2nd Annual Back to School Kickoff- The Tony Dixon Foundation and Tombigbee RC&D Council
Chairman of the Board, Donald Sherrod joins Tony Dixon Foundation with the 2nd Annual Back to School kickoff for Reform Elementary School in Reform, Alabama. Bookbags and supply kits were given to all enrolling students and all registration fees were covered. Tony Dixon Foundation also provided a generous donation to Aliceville Elementary School.

Tombigbee RC&D Partners with West AL Works
Tombigbee has recently partnered with West Alabama Works, which will provide over 500 jobs to 8 counties we serve. This would be achieved by implementing a self-service kiosk, allowing individuals of various age groups to submit job applications to multiple employers simultaneously. Additionally, high school student programs will also be in place aiding them in locating a job and gaining valuable work experience. With this system in place, both young adults and older individuals will have access to numerous employment opportunities. Bibb County Grant Celebration
Tombigbee RC&D council held Bibb County’s Grant Celebration yesterday. We would to thank everyone who was able to attend and make the event such a success. $117,511.54 were awarded in grants to community projects.
Pickens County Grant Celebration
On November 9th, we held the Pickens County grant celebration where grantees came and spoke about their program and how the funds from Tombigbee helped. It was a huge success and we were happy to hear from the grantees in attendance. $80,523.10 in grants were awarded to projects in the county!
Tombigbee RC&D Council in the Centreville Press
On December 8th 2023 Tombigbee’s grantee Cahawba Christian Academy was in the Centreville Press. In the news article they spoke about what they accomplished with the grant awarded. With the funds awarded they were able to acquire lighting equipment for their gymnasium. Read about it here, on our socials, or pick up an issue!

Hale County Grant Celebration
Tombigbee RC&D Council & West Alabama Regional Commission hosted Hale County’s Grant Celebration last week! Representative Travis Curtis was in attendance and the total funds awarded to Hale County are $135,556!
